Onalaska Show Choir Classic (ONALASKA, WI)

Onalaska's "Classic" on January 12th, 2019 was the second weekend of the 2019 show choir season for the groups that attended. Those groups are as followed in the program:

-West Salem's "Vivace"
-Logan's "Classy Ladies"
-Milton's "Octave Above"
-Omaha Westside's "Simply Irresistible"
-Hastings "Divaz"
-Sparta's "Upstage Adrenaline"
-Milton's "Revolution"
-Waconia's "The Current"
-Hastings "Upstage Revolution"
-West Salem's "Salem Singsations"
-Chippewa Falls "Chi Hi Harmonics"
-DePere "Jam Session"
-Neenah "Vintage 2019"
-Milton "Choralation"
-Waconia "The Current"
-Logan "Class Act"
-Westside "The Amazing Technicolor Show Choir"
-Holmen "Midwest Express"
-Hastings "Riverside Company"
-Bemidji "Vocalmotive"


I got to this competition bright and early rather than two hours late like I did at Colby's Competition they started the competition at eight am with West Salem's "Vivace" performing their six songs that pay tribute to the great American women of the past. Their songs are "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy", "Save the World/Don't Worry Child", "Rise Up", "Fight Song/Roar", "Seize the Day", "My Shot". This group consists of 40 different girls on stage with two different costume changes (they had three different costumes). Another all girls group that performed right after West Salem's "Vivace" was the "Classy Ladies". Their are 28 girls on stage performing all the songs that they have and the costume change that they have. Their songs consisted of  "Like That", "Lettin' Go!", "Nothing to Lose", "Grown/Woman Up", "One Girl Revolution".

At this competition they have another division along with the Class A and Open Class division called the Unisex division which is where all of the groups with one gender in them (the girl groups). The awards that they have at this competition are as follows: Best Male Soloist, Best Female Soloist, Best Costumes, Best Band, People's Choice, Second place of Class A and Unisex divisions, and Grand Champions of Class A and Unisex divisions.

-Best Female Soloist: Megan Pettys (Second Week in a row)
-Best Costumes: Bemidji's "Vocalmotive"
-Best Band: Westside "The Amazing Technicolor Show Choir"
-People's Choice: Logan "Class Act"
-2nd Place Unisex: Miltion "Octave Above"
-G.C. Unisex: Omaha "Simply Irresistable"
-2nd Place Class A: Hastings "Upstage Revolution"
-G.C. Class A: Waconia "The Current"

After those awards are all handed out they announce who's going to be the final six in the finals performance, making them one step closer to winning the whole thing.

After all of the groups perform they go through each placement of the groups and then the competition is over until the next year.
